Colts response to the request to utilize a mid-length direct gas impingement system, the CR6960 comes ready for action with a flat top upper, and a Colt CR lower, both forged from 7075-T6 aluminum and hard coat anodized to ensure durability; a Mil-Spec M4 carbine stock that is 6-postion adjustable; a Colt Exclusive Centurion Arms, free float hand guard that is a touch heavier than others you may be familiar with; and an A2 pistol grip of polymer construction.

Offering incredible precision and performance with a reliable, lightweight, and durable design, the Colt 5.56 rifle also features a 16-inch, medium taper barrel that was used to help achieve a lower overall weight profile without sacrificing accuracy; this barrel has a threaded muzzle with an A2 flash hider attached.
