When it was launched in 1991, the Benelli Super Black Eagle quickly reset what was expected of semi-auto shotguns in terms of reliability. This legendary reliability has, with the third generation of the SBE, been carried forward and buttressed with improved ergonomics and modern technology.

By splitting the stock diagonally and utilizing shock-absorbing chevrons, the entire stock was essentially turned into a recoil pad. This chevron system which is more than a decade old is still the most efficient design possible, and was the basis for the SBE 3 stock. The chevron size and location has been optimized on Comfort Tech 3; to greatly reduce facial impact and vibrations, Benelli engineers have also developed a new cheek comb pad, Combtech.

Several parts of the Bennelli Super Black Eagle 3, including the barrel, barrel extension, trigger, trigger pin, bolt, bolt handle, choke, sling stud, and safety, have been BE.S.T treated. BE.S.T. (Benelli Surface Treatment) is a new proprietary finishing technology developed by engineers and scientists at Benelli’s manufacturing headquarters in Urbino Italy. Consisting of diamond-like carbon particles that are used to create a multi-layered surface coating for protection against the elements and abrasions, this coating protects steel with a tough, impenetrable armor that stops rust and corrosion. Benelli warranties parts treated against corrosion and rust for 25 years.

Chambered for 2-3/4", 3", 3-1/2" shells, the Super Black Eagle 3 also features the clean-burning Inertia Driven System that never requires adjusting, cycles consistently in conditions that border on the unfair, and easily handles everything from light field loads to 3½" magnums. The shotgun is rounded out by a black anodized, drilled and tapped receiver, as well as red bar front, metal bead mid sights for efficient target acquisition.
