Currently on sale at Mister Guns is the FN 509 Mid-Size MRD, an optics-ready evolution of the FN 509 Midsize pistol designed to be easily concealable while still providing full-size 9mm handgun performance. Built on the proven architecture of the FNS™ Compact and further developed with help from the weapons experts at FN America, this striker-fired pistol is almost a half inch shorter than the standard FN 509, and as a result is easier to conceal while still allowing for a pistol grip that is full.

In addition to all-black co-witness iron sights, the 509 FN pistol features the FN Low Profile Optics Mounting System™ which enables the platform to accept more than ten commercially-available, miniature red dot (MRD) optics that co-witness with the suppressor-height night sights while remaining adaptable to future optics releases with no requirement of direct milling of the slide.

Also featured on the 509 MRD is a polymer frame with replaceable steel frame/slide rails; a black polymer grip with interchangeable backstraps that have enhanced texturing for better recoil management and faster follow-up shots in all conditions; a steel slide with an external extractor, a loaded chamber indicator that promotes safe use, and improved cocking serrations for easy manipulation; as well as a cold hammer-forged, stainless steel barrel with recessed target crown, polished chamber and feed ramp.

A MIL-STD-1913 accessory mounting rail for attaching accessories like lights and lasers, a fully ambidextrous slide stop lever and magazine release, and a new, flatter faced trigger that allows for more controllable trigger press and cleaner break round out the FN 509M package.

The FN 509 9mm wears a flat dark earth (FDE) finish and ships with two (2) 15-round or 10-round magazines each with a high-visibility, low-friction follower and a polymer base plate; it is also compatible with all FN 509 magazines and available for commercial, law enforcement, and military use. Other items included in the box are two interchangeable backstraps, a locking device, an owner’s manual, and an FN logo soft pistol case.
