The Benelli Super Black Eagle, when it was launched in 1991, quickly reset what was expected of semi-auto shotguns in terms of reliability. Today, with the third generation of the SBE, this legendary reliability has been carried forward and buttressed with modern technology as well as improved ergonomics.

By splitting the stock diagonally and utilizing shock-absorbing chevrons, the entire stock was essentially turned into a recoil pad. More than a decade old, this chevron system is still the most efficient design possible, and was the basis for the SBE 3 stock. The chevron size and location has been optimized on Comfort Tech 3; in addition, Benelli engineers have developed a new cheek comb pad, Combtech, which greatly reduces facial impact and vibrations.

Many components of the Bennelli Super Black Eagle 3, including the barrel, barrel extension, trigger, trigger pin, bolt, bolt handle, choke, sling stud, and safety, have been BE.S.T treated. BE.S.T. (Benelli Surface Treatment) is a new proprietary finishing technology developed by engineers and scientists at Benelli’s manufacturing headquarters in Urbino Italy. Consisting of diamond-like carbon particles that are used to create a multi-layered surface coating for protection against the elements and abrasions, this coating protects steel with a tough, impenetrable armor that stops rust and corrosion. Benelli warranties parts treated against corrosion and rust for 25 years.

The Super Black Eagle 3 is chambered for 2-3/4", 3", 3-1/2" shells, and also comes equipped with a black anodized receiver that is drilled and tapped; red bar front, metal bead mid sights for efficient target acquisition; and the clean-burning Inertia Driven System that never requires adjusting, cycles consistently in conditions that border on the unfair, and easily handles everything from light field loads to 3½" magnums.
