Based on FN’s submission pistol that the U.S. Army tested for its Modular Handgun Trials, the FN tactical 9mm – which is an extension of the FN 509 family – is a striker-fired autoloader pistol that has been significantly improved in terms of design.

This FN 509 Tactical for sale comes outfitted with a polymer frame featuring replaceable steel frame/slide rails; a black polymer grip with interchangeable backstraps and enhanced grip textures for faster follow-up shots in all conditions; a MIL-STD-1913 accessory mounting rail on which you can mount your favorite accessories including lights and lasers; an easily-racked steel slide with a sight-protecting slide cap, an external extractor, loaded chamber indicator, as well as improved front and rear cocking serrations for easy manipulation; and a cold hammer-forged, stainless steel barrel with recessed target crown, polished chamber, feed ramp, 1/2” x 28 threads that accept the bulk of 9mm suppressors available, and a thread cap with integrated O-ring to prevent loosening during use.

Also featured on the FN 509 Tactical black is a fully ambidextrous slide stop lever and magazine release, suppressor height Trijicon 3-dot green tritium night sights, and the FN Low Profile Optics Mounting System™ that enables the platform to accept more than ten commercially-available, miniature red dot (MRD) optics that co-witness with the suppressor-height night sights while remaining adaptable to future optics releases with no requirement of direct milling of the slide.

The 509 Tactical FN pistol ships with one (1) 17-round and one (1) 24-round, or two (2) 10-round high-visibility magazines with a low-friction follower, polymer base plate and black finish. Two interchangeable backstraps, a locking device, an FN logo soft pistol case, and an owner’s manual are also included in the package.
