Another prominent member of the popular Kershaw–Emerson series of hunting knives, the "XL" Kershaw Emerson knife comes with a big and useful, 4-inch blade made of D2 steel – a high-carbon, high-chromium tool steel that offers good edge retention and hardness, as well as more corrosion-resistance than other high-carbon steels, making it is a knifemaker’s favorite.

As is to be expected, this folder also comes featuring the patented Emerson “wave shaped opening feature” which opens the Emerson Kershaw Knife as it is withdrawn from the pocket. A small wave-shaped tab on the top of the blade is built to catch on the pocket seam, opening the knife automatically. This instant-open feature is a favorite among military, rescue, and law enforcement knife users.

You can also manually open the blade using the thumb disk built into the blade. A sturdy frame locking mechanism which is a part of the handle and the knife frame securely locks the blade open during use by moving behind the blade when it is deployed.

The CQC-4KXL handle is composed of a black, textured G10 front scale combined with a 410 stainless steel back scale, and to ensure a grip that is secure and comfortable the G10 portion is contoured.

Thanks to the reversible (left/right), tip-up pocket clip, and the handle drilled to accept a lanyard, the Kershaw Emerson CQC can be conveniently carried all day long.
